TRANSITION

Oil on canvas, 55 X 55 cm, with painted edges. For a number of years I have been doing my little tradition making transition paintings, starting new years eve and finishing it in the new year. I remember doing it when I was in my early twenties when I decided to stay home and do some drawing instead going out to celebrate new year. Tradition of painting I think started in transition between 1999 and 2000. I was obsessed with the new millennium and made special painting which was then send to the art gallery in Hawaii. Unfortunately that painting never reached the gallery and it got lost in transit. That did not discourage me and I kept going doing it. Some of them took me several years to finish like the Interdimensional Mother, some of end up completely repainted number of years after like Jungle Juice. New years eve I got email from a friend asking me if I am still doing transitional paintings, so I decided to name this painting Transition. Started in 2022 and finished in 2023.
