I have been Bob Dylan fan since my teenage years and through my artistic career I named many paintings after his songs.
The phrase “I and I” comes from the Rastafari vocabulary and refers to the “oneness” between God and humans. According to Rastafarian scholar E.E. Cashmore, “I and I is an expression to totalize the concept of oneness, the oneness of two persons. So God is within all of us and we’re one people in fact. I and I means that God is in all men. The bond of Ras Tafari is the bond of God, of man.
Rastafari, also known as the Rastafari movement or Rastafarianism, is a religion that developed in Jamaica during the 1930s. It is classified as both a new religious movement and a social movement by scholars of religion. There is no central authority in control of the movement and much diversity exists among practitioners, who are known as Rastafari, Rastafarians, or Rastas.
