The Future is Bright
Oil on canvas, 50.5 x 50.5 cm (20 x 20 inches)
This evocative painting was created in the tranquil setting of the Buddhist Temple in Auckland, a place that inspires peace and introspection. On the first day of the new year, I was demonstrating live painting at the temple. After completing this piece, I was deeply touched by a gesture of kindness from Venerable Abbess Manshin, who gifted me a red envelope containing several items. Written in golden letters on the envelope were the words, Keep Going, the Future is Bright—a message that resonated profoundly with me.
After enduring a challenging 2024 marked by financial setbacks and moments of doubt, this act of compassion reignited my energy and hope. It reminded me of my purpose as an artist: to uplift and energize others through my work.
In that spirit, I named this painting and my New Year collection The Future is Bright. This piece symbolizes renewal, optimism, and the enduring light of hope, reflecting the transformative power of compassion and creativity.
