Risen Above is a deeply personal work born through persistence, transformation, and renewal. After building up multiple layers of paint that failed to achieve the desired result, I made the difficult decision to scrape the surface back, sand it down, and begin again. What emerged from that process became the heart of this painting.
Inspired by the water lily, which rises from muddy waters to bloom into something beautiful, Risen Above carries a poetic message of resilience and growth. The luminous flower-like form emerges from layers of rich blues, violets, and radiant light, symbolizing the ability to overcome setbacks and transform adversity into beauty.
