Vjekoslav Nemesh, “THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT”, 28 X 28 cm, 42 pages, hardcover.

The Future is Bright is a collection born from both art and life. Many of the paintings featured here were created at the Fo Guang Shan Temple in Auckland, where I have had the privilege of painting and sharing my work with the community. For many years, I have carried a personal tradition of beginning a new painting on New Year’s Eve and completing it in the new year. This past January, while doing a live demonstration at the temple, I signed not one but two works: Prayer for Peace and Spark of Life.

That same day, the Curator of Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery New Zealand Venerable Abbess Manshin, gave me a small red envelope as a gift. On it were written golden letters, words: “Keep going, the future is bright.” At the time, I was facing difficult challenges, and that simple message gave me a powerful burst of energy and hope. Soon after, during another live demonstration, I painted the work that now carries the title of this book.

One of the shining moments of this year was winning the Art Battle Grand Finale in Auckland, which gave me yet another burst of energy and confidence to keep moving forward. Moments like these, together with the encouragement I received at the temple, reminded me that resilience and hope can transform difficult times into inspiration.

Nearly ten months later, after walking my own personal journey, I have come to deeply understand the meaning of those words. This book is dedicated with gratitude to Venerable Abbess Manshin and to the many dedicated volunteers, led by Vicky Han, whose support and kindness have been a light along the way.

Through these paintings, my wish is to uplift, inspire, and remind others—as I was reminded—that no matter the struggles we face, the future truly is bright.
